The Gender Pay Gap: A Persistent Challenge

Despite significant progress over the years, the gender pay gap remains a persistent issue in Australia. According to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), revealing employer gender pay gaps for the first time has underscored the necessity for immediate action WGEA Media Release. Women, especially mothers, face unique challenges that contribute to this disparity, including the struggle to balance career aspirations with family responsibilities. CAPAA recognises that addressing these challenges is crucial to closing the gender pay gap and ensuring that women can participate fully and equally in the economy.

CAPAA, through its network of agencies and members, provides invaluable support to working mothers across Australia. By facilitating access to quality Au Pair services, CAPAA plays a pivotal role in enabling mothers to remain in the workforce, pursue promotions, and achieve their career goals. Our members are dedicated professionals who understand the importance of providing reliable and flexible childcare solutions. This support is vital for mothers working in demanding roles, such as partners in legal firms, pilots for Australian airlines, or entrepreneurs looking to expand their businesses.

In line with this year’s theme, “Inspire Inclusion,” CAPAA and its members are committed to advocating for policies and practices that promote gender equality and support working mothers. Our initiatives focus on creating a more inclusive work environment where women can thrive without having to choose between their careers and their families. By highlighting the success stories of women who have benefited from our services, we aim to inspire others and demonstrate the tangible impact of our work.

CAPAA Members: Voices of Advocacy

Our members, representing a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds, are united in their commitment to gender equality and support for working mothers. Each member brings a unique perspective to our collective efforts to “Inspire Inclusion.” Here, we invite our members to share their thoughts and experiences in advocating for women in the workforce:

  • By sourcing home help, including nannies, Au Pairs and housekeepers, Dream Nannies play a crucial role in supporting working mothers by providing reliable and flexible childcare solutions.   • Honouring women and mother’s all year round, but today we celebrate women worldwide. In my role at AIFS and as President of CAPAA I want to continue to strive to support, raise up and empower every woman on this planet. CAPAA Au Pair of the Year Award

If you believe that you have THE Au Pair of the Year and if you think they deserve some recognition and appreciation, we would love to hear from you!

This is your opportunity to share the positive impact your Au Pair has made to your family, and your acknowledgement means so much! This award highlights some of the amazing young people having joined Host Families across Australia, while raising the public’s awareness of this valuable cultural exchange programme.

How does it work?

Please put together a short video submission that highlights the Au Pair and Host Family experience.  Submit your entry to info@capaa.org.au by 29 Feburary 2024 and tell us why s/he is exceptional!

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO FIND THE TIME TO PUT A VIDEO TOGETHER, BUT YOUR AU PAIR DESERVES THE RECOGNITION, PLEASE LET US KNOW. WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP TO PUT AN ENTRY TOGETHER.

CAPAA will select one Au Pair of the Year and one Runner-Up. Winners will be announced in March.

  • The Au Pair of the Year winner will be awarded a $500 Visa/Mastercard gift card.
  • The runner-up will be awarded a $250 Visa/Mastercard gift card.
  • We will also send a certificate of recognition to each candidate who is nominated.

Who is eligible?

Host Families whose Au Pair is in Australia with one of the CAPAA member agencies, can nominate their Au Pair by sending a video submission to CAPAA. The Au Pairs being nominated for the award must have been an Au Pair during 2023. 

What are the requirements?

We are looking for compelling, unique stories of cultural exchange, personal growth, integration in a family, culture, language, and community.

Content: How did the Au Pair integrate, overcome challenges and experience cultural exchange. What are they doing to make the best of their time abroad? How did the Au Pair make a difference in the Host Family’s life?

Creativity: Everything is possible, but it is important that the video submission is created by the Host Family. 

Legal compliance: Ensure that the entry is in compliance with all the legal and copyright requirements, including permission of those visible in the entry, especially from parents of children in the video; if parents don’t want their children to be recognised, please make sure that the video is prepared accordingly, e.g. with faces blurred. Don’t forget to have everyone featured in videos and photos to sign a consent form (attached)

Technical requirements: Video must be in mp4 or mov format and no larger than 3 GB.
