Working Holiday Visa Delays

Many prospective au pairs are currently experiencing longer-than-expected processing times for Working Holiday (subclass 417) and Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visas,  we realise these delays are stressful for host families awaiting their au pair’s arrival.

The Australian Department of Home Affairs has confirmed a significant surge in application volumes, leading to extended processing times across the entire Working Holiday Maker program. Please be assured that these delays are industry-wide and do not reflect issues with any specific applicant, host family, or agency. Each application is reviewed individually, and additional documentation may be requested prior to approval.

Recommended Actions for Host Families &  Au Pairs

  • Apply early: Au pairs should submit visa applications as far in advance as possible.
  • Hold off on travel arrangements: Au pairs should not book flights or commit to non-refundable travel plans until their visa is officially granted.
  • Monitor ImmiAccount: Applicants should check their ImmiAccount regularly for any requests or communications from the Department.
  • Track official updates: Refer directly to the Department of Home Affairs for real-time processing stats.

CAPAA member agencies remain committed to supporting both host families and au pairs through every step of the placement process.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and share updates as official information becomes available.
